CWTP Grade IV Operator, NIGHT SHIFT (6pm-6am)

POSITION: Cullman Water Treatment Plant Grade IV Operator, Night Shift (6 pm to 6 am).

SALARY RANGE: Competitive rate, negotiable based on experience (Paid vacation and sick time, holidays, retirement).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED. Grade IV Water issued by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity within a 3-month time frame is required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience in a Water Treatment Plant.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS: The Water Treatment Plant Operator must have experience in the process, compliance, and operations of a water treatment plant. The Water Treatment Plant Operator must possess strong organizational skills that reflect his/her ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail. The Water Treatment Plant Operator will be in a dynamic position which requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions quickly and with a high level of professionalism. The Water Treatment Plant Operator will be a highly resourceful team-player who is self-motivated and actively seeks opportunities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job the majority of the time the Water Treatment Plant Operator is at desk or in the plant in a controlled environment. Workspace shall be organized and maintained in a safe, neat, and orderly manner. There may be periods in a vehicle and times when it is necessary to be outside with customers, crews, etc. requiring some walking. Occasionally it may be necessary to visit customers, training, or off-site meetings. Travel, in varying weather conditions, by personal or company vehicles may be necessary.

RESIDENCY:

Must maintain a reasonable distance from the location where he or she would be expected to report when needed, per job requirements, in order to produce reasonable response times when job related situations arise.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

• Perform routine process operations and adjustments to maintain system operations within regulatory permit (ADEM, NPDES, PWSID) requirements.

• Maintain and operate water filtering and chemical treatment processes.

• Maintain knowledge of analyses and industry standard tests as identified in facility permit.

• Perform standard maintenance tasks• Read and understand SCADA system and system alarms.

• Assist other operators with performance of all required job duties.

• Take and record instrument readings.

• Report to supervisor any irregularities with instruments or their readings.

• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory analysis.

• Maintain facility through general clean up and wash-down.

• General knowledge of policies and procedure.

OTHER:

• Shall have a valid Alabama Driver’s License.

• Must be able to be insured for automobile insurance.

• Shall have an operating residential or cellular phone.

• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, walk up to 5 miles per day, and repeatedly stoop, kneel, crouch, and stand.

• Ability to work rotating shifts including 12-hour days.
