Power Division: Assistant Engineering and Operations Manager
Reporting Location: Cullman Power Board Warehouse
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday
After-hours requirements: Yes – as needed
Wage range: Minimum starting salary of $110,000, but could vary based on qualifications and experience.
Position Description: The Assistant Engineering and Operations Manager is responsible for leading both field and office teams to ensure safe working environments, effective project execution, and operational efficiency for power distribution projects. This position requires a combination of strong project management skills, strategic planning, and hands-on leadership to drive continuous improvement, optimize workflows, and maintain compliance with safety and industry regulations. The role also includes oversight of budgeting, infrastructure planning, and interdepartmental collaboration to support reliable and cost-effective electric utility operations.
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience including a minimum of 5 years of direct supervision. PE license and/or PMP certification are highly desirable.
Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates consistent leadership, integrity, and a safety-focused mindset across all activities.
- Lead and manage utility infrastructure projects from planning and design through execution, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory standards.
- Apply project management expertise to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and support long-term system reliability.
- Develop and oversee departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-effective practices without compromising safety, service, or quality.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry’s best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and safety oversight to engineering and field operations staff.
- Coordinate with internal departments, government agencies, contractors, and external stakeholders to support collaborative and transparent operations.
- Communicate effectively with the Board of Directors, TVA, contractors, customers, and the public regarding utility performance, projects, and service updates.
- Oversee staff development programs, including technical training, safety education, and succession planning to maintain a skilled and competent workforce.
