Rates & Policies

Your electric bill includes two main parts: a fixed monthly customer charge and a charge for the electricity you use. The customer charge helps cover the cost of maintaining the electric system that serves your home or business, including poles, wires, meters, and equipment.

The energy portion of your bill is based on the number of kilowatt-hours (kWh) you use each month. A portion of this charge includes TVA’s Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA), which reflects TVA’s monthly cost of generating and purchasing power. Because fuel prices, weather conditions, and overall energy demand can change from month to month, the FCA may increase or decrease slightly each billing cycle, even if your electricity usage stays the same.

Cullman Power Board does not control the FCA and does not profit from it. TVA sets this adjustment monthly, and it is passed directly through to customers as part of the wholesale cost of power.

You can view the current electric rate schedule below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mail delivery can be unpredictable. Once your bill is mailed, we cannot guarantee its arrival. If you haven’t received your bill and your due date is near, please call or stop by our office to check your account balance. This will prevent you from missing your due date and save you from forfeiting your five percent discount for on time payments.

If your lights won’t come on, please check your circuit breakers or fuse box first for thrown switches or blown fuses. If that’s not the problem, call us at 256-734-2343.

Also, check the Outage Map and more outage information on the Outage Center page to ensure there isn’t a local power outage impacting you.

For information on your first bill, call 256-734-2343.

Our team can help you turn off, transfer or stop service when you move. To start the process, call 256-734-2343 and provide us with your new forwarding address. This enables us to mail your final bill or a refund of your deposit, if applicable.

If the account is in your name, even though you don’t live there, we still look to the account holder for responsibility of payment. The account name should always be the same as the tenant or owner of the property.

Your final bill will be clearly marked “Final Bill at this Location” on the front. Depending on the timing of your move or service disconnection, you may receive one or two additional bills. Keep in mind, your final bill could cover only a few days of service.
