Mission & History

At Cullman Power Board, our mission is to provide the citizens of Cullman with reliable, safe, economic, and customer-focused electric service. Beyond powering homes and businesses, we are proud to support local initiatives, schools, and community programs that energize our community and brighten local futures.

Cullman Power Board’s service to the community began decades ago. The Utilities Board of the City of Cullman, Alabama, was incorporated as a public corporation under Sections 394–402 of Title 37 of the Code of Alabama, as amended, and Act No. 175, adopted during the 1951 regular session of the Alabama Legislature. Initially managing the city’s Water Works Systems, the Board assumed operations of the Electric Department on October 16, 1951, serving 2,947 customers.

Today, Cullman Power Board serves over 9,000 customers, owning and operating the electric distribution system while purchasing energy from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to ensure reliable power delivery across the community.
